Excited to announce I’ve just finished setting up a self-hosted instance. Feeling a bit like a hermit crab, getting cozy in a shell of my own creation. 🦀🌐 #crablang #selfhosting #Fediverse #Mastodon

#CrabLang is a community fork of the other thing

The CrabLang Collective aims to provide a space where the community can thrive without the constraints imposed by corporate interests.

I will now refer to crablang as crablang
now, can I crablang phetch is the question.
#CrabLang (a fork of #Rust), reminds me of Io.js, which forked from #Node.js because corporate sponsors were holding the language back. Due to extreme bureaucratic caution, adding new JavaScript features to Node.js took a very long time (years!).
The good thing is that this led to the formation of the Node.js Foundation and, eventually, the #OpenJS Foundation. The result is a platform with better governance and faster iteration. #Io.js and #Node.js were merged in the end.

Seeing a few posts on my wall about #crablang the community fork of #rustlang
While I'm trying my best to keep my mind open and assume no ill intentions, it's hard not to look at statements like "our goal is not to fracture the community" and see anything more than an empty disclaimer and potentially misplaced effort
I suppose it was inevitable given the drama in the #Rust community as of late: https://github.com/crablang

@orhun #telenovela becomes #netnovela becomes #rustung these days then there #crablang thanks to those 😄

It's a bizarre stance to call forking #rustlang into #crablang a waste of effort. It's insisting that we MUST continue to engage with harmful systems for the sake of "the show must go on," but that's kinda how you create devs who hate life and hate the projects they're working on.
If you're afraid of the future of Rust in the Linux kernel, the onus is on the system itself to change, not the protesters.

@thephd I guess these sorts of shenanigans are why #CrabLang now exists. https://github.com/crablang/crab
Wonderful!
I consider this to be critical in my research of cat-mass black-holes!
as a single cat-mass, non-rotating black hole has a schwarschild radius of 7.426 rontometers.
also, remember to paint metal surfaces do they don't get #rust on them.
Why a knife in their logo when they could've used a fork instead? :rust:
