We took a little time off to go to the 2023 Chippendale School graduate show of furniture designed and built by the students in Gifford, East Lothian where a friend was exhibiting.

There is a long history of hand carving mother of pearl shells into #pilgrim souvenirs in #Palestine long before the creation of the state of Israel. This detailed #nativity scene is only about 4cm high. @suegww No-one quite appreciates how much time, effort and skill hand-crafting takes in these days of cheap (relatively) machine made products. #Craftsmen and #Craftswomen are undervalued.

He likes to make tableaus of craftsmen plying their trades, but set about 100 years ago. 🙂
