266 years ago today. Thomas Telford, the civil engineer whose works transformed Scotland and had a huge impact elsewhere, was born near Westerkirk in Dumfries-shire on 9 August 1757. Quick walk up Craigellachie above Aviemore this morning.
Have always wondered about going up or down via High Burnside, it looks an obvious route. So came down that way. No path on the ground, just a lot of boggy heather, a deer fence to climb, and a stream to cross, then eventually picked up the estate track through the forest down to High Burnside.
So now I know.
