And in a pinch, if the text is in a diff language I do not understand, I can always try to squish it through translation and wish for something readable to come through. Unfortunately, videos kinda do not have that option, since subtitles from speech on the fly are rarely as they should be, let alone translations of THOSE subtitles. #craptions

It's possibly even worse to have inaccurate captions than no captions at all. These tools often get words, grammar, and punctuation wrong. They don't understand acronyms or the names of products. They will misspell someone's name or not understand neopronouns. Sometimes they even attribute what was said to the wrong person. This hurts everyone consuming the transcript.

@zachleat @rich_harris It’s good to see captions on these things, but not when they’re still in autogenerated craption form. It would be better if someone had a ticket to sit an edit them between being generated and going public. Here’s one of my favourite examples.
