Well, late last night M and I wrapped up #CrashCourseInRomance, and I thought I'd want to spend a couple days coming down from that particular finished-a-kdrama type of high before diving into something new.

Then a friend came into my DMs just this morning and said, "I just finished Weak Hero Class One! Have you heard of it? It was sooo good" and OBVIOUSLY we had to dive straight in the second we learned it stars Jihoon of #WannaOne :blobcataww:

Now we're down 4 episodes with only 4 left to go, and I don't know how to handle myself!! It's almost too intense for me. Someone just needs to give all these kids a hug.

Well!!! I haven't been updating the TL but I'm finally on the last couple episodes of #CrashCourseInRomance and I am clutching at my face!

Mel started watching with me somewhere around the episode 5 mark, so it's been slow going since our schedules don't always match up and neither of us can focus on more than one episode a night. Tonight, tho, we finished ep 14 just now at 9pm, took one look at each other, and when I said, "Let's do it," Mel said, "If we're doing one we gotta do them both!" so we're buckling in!

I have seen all 3 of the recent #kdramas where there is a character whose behaviour appears somewhere on the austism spectrum. *Apologies to anyone if my terminology is incorrect.

IK from reading a translated article that Oh Jung-Se, who played Sang Tae in #It'sOkayToNotBeOkay, spent some time observing and interacting with people with #autism before the filming of the drama. He wanted to be as natural as possible.

There are of course varying degrees of autism so I don't really think 1 portrayal is better than another. And each of the dramas has the character serving a particular purpose. IOTNBO was the first recent drama to feature a character with autism. Other dramas quickly followed. Of the 3 aforementioned dramas, the brother in #ExtraordinaryAttorneyWoo is really a side character. IOTNBO and #CrashCourseInRomance both have the actors as main characters.

If I had to say it, then personally I liked Oh Jung-Se's portrayal the best. I cried and I cheered for that character as he grew to understand and be understood.

#crashcourseinromance really shows the impact that #ExtraordinaryAttorneyWoo has had on how (and how much) #kdramas depict people with #autism. But this drama goes further: it normalizes telling stories with and about characters who have #asd the way we tell stories about everyone else. /end

In questi giorni sto recuperando #CrashCourseInRomance di cui sto godendo più dell'interpretazione che della vicenda. Proprio il ventaglio di espressioni, modi di porsi, reazioni, soprattutto i classici finali di puntata sempre così esagerati nella mimica da diventare sciocchi in modo tenerissimo. Overall, I really enjoyed Crash Course in Romance. For once, a subplot that I thought would take away from the main plot, actually has a good reason to exist. The theme of parents being the main element to their child either succeeding or failing is a big one, and a nice focus. All the characters were fun and memorable, which added to the fun.

You should definitely watch it.

Finished #CrashCourseInRomance last night!

I love when shows wrap everything up in a nice, neat, unrealistic bow! They got rid of Dong-Hui real quick in ep 15.

Hae-E was really annoying in the first 1/4 of the last episode... I doubt her character is the kind that would play mind games, but it just felt like she was acting out on purpose because she knew her mom would run away?

Love the proposal scene =)

Also noticing a pattern in Kdramas where almost every single male and female character gets paired up in the end regardless of their relationship, or lack thereof, and idk man lol

Overall, I really enjoyed it. Definitely worth watching.
