As a lifelong #SciFi fan, I'm not usually impressed with most of the #ScienceFiction coming out of Hollywood lately, but I have to say this one looks like it's genuinely well-written & well-made, with unique spins on some classic tropes.

"The Creator" is a #PostApocalyptic #thriller, starring #AllisonJenney ( #TheWestWing), #GemmaChan ( #CrazyRichAsians & #Eternals), and #JohnDavidWashington ( #Tenet).

@JordiGH Did you see the movie for #CrazyRichAsians. I watched it on the plane to Tokyo. I guess the main reason it is celebrated is that all of the characters are ethnically some variation on Chinese. I guess that part was somewhat transparent to me (i.e. I didn't stop and think "why are all these characters Chinese"). I guess that counts as success. On the other hand most of the action is set in Singapore, which is pretty Chinese. I did enjoy the "oh, I've been there" aspect of the movie.

For Christmas I got #ChinaRichGirlfriend and #RichPeopleProblems (the sequels to #CrazyRichAsians) and I'm just DEVOURING them (on CRG right now, probably will start RPP tomorrow). I don't know what it's about these books that makes me read them so. I've been hungering for them. Parts of it remind me of my high school years, and I'm equally intrigued and disgusted by both the book and my memory of my younger years.

I hope to some day write something that someone else will be unable to put down.

Just finished the #CrazyRichAsians book. Watching the movie made me want to read it, and I'm really glad I did. The story is naturally much more detailed and a little less sappy than the movie. Of course, a book isn't restricted to the #romcom format.

Now I want to read the sequels. I hope they're good too.
