I had to "thaw" my #Experian #CreditReport so a lender could query it. Immediately something called Experian Business Info Solutions grabbed a copy of my credit report. I assume this is their own internal spam generator and that I'll now get a bunch of "offers" from them. What a scam!

Annual reminder to U.S. folks - you are entitled to a free credit report once per year from all three credit bureaus: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/ask-cfpb/how-do-i-get-a-copy-of-my-credit-reports-en-5/

If you do it online, be aware that www.AnnualCreditReport.com is the ONLY legitimate, government-approved site for getting your free credit report. All other sites are commercial or scams (but I repeat myself).

Don't wait until you're a victim to take action! I remember taking an identity theft report for a young family who already had kids and was expecting a newborn. They desperately needed to buy a minivan to accommodate their growing family. While at the car dealership, their financing application got rejected because of poor credit scores. They were in shock because they assumed they had a clean credit report. After reviewing their credit report, they learned they had been a victim of identity theft for YEARS!

When you don't timely report or dispute with the credit bureaus, it is COSTLY and TIME CONSUMING to clear your name, if ever! You are at the mercy of the credit bureaus and the court system.

After last week's tweets about Dhanicares fiascos, I checked my #creditreport and found some "consumer loans" in my name that I never applied for: Aditya Birla F L, Karur Vysya, & CAPFLOAT. I can't even make out which companies they are! (AB has many,KVB? Capfloat??)
