Obviously I'm biased, #PeteTurner worked hand-in-hand with #CreedTaylor from 1959 but Turner and his generation lifestyle / art pictures were almost the second original American art form between 1955 and at least 1978 - color, image, composure, layout, all just so good. Obvs #BobCiano contributed design concepts but Turner alone made the art of the photograph on album covers. Yes Francis Woolf, Chuck Stewart and many others, but they mostly did (great) pictures of people..

It's been a fun few times talking to and poking about in the photographic, video and painting archive of Alan Kaplan. His picture from his social commentary "Study in Gray" - The Dull Life of Women in 1969 was used without permission or payment it seems on the cover of #DonSebesky album "Rape Of El Morro". In that context it's deep and brooding, seen in it's original context it takes on a whole different perspective. #CTIrecords #CreedTaylor

I've had two great interviews this weekend with Alen MacWeeney. Alan was the ying to Pete Turners yang for album covers at CTI/KUDU. Where #PeteTurner did abstract, brightly colored covers that rarely included the artist, Alen included detailed closely cropped covers with a muted palate.

The prices of 7 1/2 ips reel to reel tapes continue to defy gravity. I get that these are collectors items because notany were sold, but unless they've been stored in near perfect condition, they will unlikely play more than a couple of times. This one selling for $125

Farewell Bebeoto Castilho, a founding member of the Tamba Trio and later, the Tamba 4, died on March 10th, 2103, in Rio de Janeiro. Mr Castilho died at age 83, just a month short of his 84th birthday.

Doug Payne's excellent CTI discography lists a CT 516 45/single, it never happened. Only this double-sided promo release of "Solo el Fin" (For All We Know).

The story of the little known/heard English language version of "(Where Do I Begin) Love Story" by Astrud Gilberto. The track is included!

It's the penultimate entry in Taylors Dozen, the first 14 promo singles released by #CreedTaylor on his newly independent #CTI #CTIrecords label.

For those that don't remember, as 1970 closed and 1971 started, the record business was in love with Love Story.

Todays CTI album you overlooked.
Randy Weston's "Blue Moses" - it's true, #RandyWeston wanted to play acoustic for this album but #CreedTaylor insisted on electric. Randy wasn't pleased at the time, but in his autobiography agrees that this album set him up to pay off his debts and was a major contributor to his later work.
