#SkyWatch #Astrophotography I have posted photos of the #CrescentNebula before but not ones created with my 250mm lens. This wider field of view shows the Crescent (lower right corner) amidst the hydrogen gas clouds of the #Sadr region in the center of the #Cygnus constellation. The Crescent is a shell caused by colliding gasses after a star explosion. #StillLearning

#SkyWatch #Astrophotography The #CrescentNebula is an emission nebula in the #Cygnus constellation. It formed 250,000 to 400,000 years ago when fast stellar winds from a hot WR star collided with slower moving winds expelled by the star when it exploded into a red giant. It lies 5000 light years away, which means that the light from the red hydrogen and blue oxygen of the object took 5000 years to reach the sensor of my camera. #StillLearning

NGC 6888: The Crescent Nebula
The Crescent Nebula, which to me looks more like a giant space brain than a crescent.

#SkyWatch #Astrophotography The #CrescentNebula aka #NGC6888 is an emission nebula in the #Cygnus constellation about 5000 light years from Earth. It is caused by the fast-moving stellar winds from the star WR136 colliding with and energizing the slower moving wind ejected by the star 250,000 years ago when it became a red giant. This image is 50 minutes (10x300 seconds) of exposure captured with my 250mm lens and ASI533mc pro camera. #StillLearning
