The aspen forest here is in the running for largest single organism on the planet. Really awesome even if the big fungus pushes the forest into the #2 spot. (But we probably win.)

First time I've seen beavers in the wild. And an awesome trail: easy but gets you up high so you can cavort with the peaks.

Delightful conditions aside from times of terrible visibility and strong wind. Powder easily found all day long, but the snow got so heavy we pulled off early before the free parking turned into a madhouse.

With winter here now I'm starting to dream longingly of July in the Colorado Mountains, in particular Crested Butte known as the state's wildflower capitol. The annual Wildflower Festival is held during the second week of July. As long as we get enough snow we can count on a dazzling display of wildflowers. These photos are from a few years ago.
