Here’s Cricket the Brave chillin’ in a sunny spot by the couch yesterday. She’ll have a kinda funny looking chin and neck for a while as the shaved fur grows back in and you can see the purple sutures she sassily decided to keep but they will dissolve at some point.

Cone is off. Most stitches are out. And for another first, Cricket didn’t barf in the carrier during the drive to or fro. A couple stitches were left in the mouth that will dissolve on their own (her decision). And, we’re home!

On the morning Cricket gets her stitches removed, while still in her cone, it appears she managed to get some chin stitches undone.

I think things are ok aside from the little bit of dangling sutures.

This places her abilities somewhere between Harry Houdini and Dan Aykroyd’s “The Couch Trip” character, John Burns, who, while wearing a straight jacket, managed to unlid a candy jar and unwrap a piece of candy.

How do you keep this dang e-collar cone clean when Cricket uses it as a dry food shovel and a water bowl submersible? Also, she hopped up on the couch for a bit of human pillow time here, which was nice.

I love it when one of my schemes works. Two of them, actually. The regular food bowls were not working for the coned Cricket, but she figured out how to eat from a lipped side plate and also from this small, elevated and angled bowl I picked up after work tonight.
