Sitting staring at the blank screen. I've over plotted. Does that happen to other folk? You work out what's going to happen, in so much detail, that when you come to write it, you can't. My protagonist is sitting in a diner wondering what's going on, and all I feel like doing is shouting in her ear, "it's him. Look! Why can't you see it? "

Usually, I plot enough for structure but not so much that I can't be surprised as I write. Now I've gone and punctured the balloon.

Doing some plotting while the rain hammers down outside. My 2022 NaNoWriMo ended up as a stew of 'random unrelated events as I thought of them'. Time to give it some structure! Writing people is so much harder than llamas..

Auch der aktuelle Roman von Joe R. Lansdale "Moon Lake" ist wieder so typisch für den Autor. Und trotzdem originell, krass und vor allem zutiefst menschlich. Danny und Ronny kämpfen in den 70er Jahren gegen den omnipräsenten Rassismus und gegen generationenübergreifende Verbrechen, die an Bösartigkeit kaum zu überbieten sind. If this was a movie, Rowan True, PI would be disarming, witty; while cooly calculating her options against a Thompson at ten feet. But the truth was that I’d underestimated him again and at that moment, helplessness terrified me, not death. A heartbeat later, I ran straight towards his astonished face and the roar of his gun.
