We just added the ability to filter by date and group by column and date period. This makes it that much easier for the public to critically examine the criminal legal system

Just finished re-re-re-reading (honestly maybe 5th time) Voigt et al.’s 2017 PNAS paper measuring police officer disrespect toward Black vs white citizens in routine traffic stops by applying computational linguistic techniques to body-worn camera recordings. This has to be one of my favourite contemporary papers in #criminology of all time. Teaching shortly about facial recognition technology in my class on #DigitalCriminology. First time learning about the SAND Lab's Fawkes tool for making tiny adjustments to personal images before posting them online. The tiny pixel-level changes, invisible to the human eye, "poison" any model that tries learn what you look like. So cool. #crimodon #sociodon #psychodon https://sandlab.cs.uchicago.edu/fawkes/

In my class next week (on #DigitalCriminology) we are talking about facial recognition technology and its potential to increase the likelihood of wrongful conviction based on eyewitness identification. Would love if there were some kind of online game or simulation that helps explore the difficulties of matching a target face to a candidate list.
