I don't think I introduced myself when I joined, but I think it's good for us to introduce ourselves more than once so… I was a historian of architecture, then a writer on architecture and network culture, now an artist and writer on network culture. I work with technology in art, especially photography, #criticalaiart, #eurorack synthesizers, and computers. I am a native plant activist (npsnj.org). The photo is of Perkūnas, my largest artwork. A prestigious grant has been asking me to apply for a while, was thinking of doing it with my work on #criticalaiart since somebody is going to do it in the next year. But then the doubts surface. There are death treats against people in the field from both right and left. The whole thing is likely to be appropriated by the gallery system quickly, split between Jeff Koons types and pseudo-social justice identity types. Seems toxic. Maybe better to stay away, working quietly.
