I think you should commit yourself to writing an intimate character arc. You will learn something about yourself one way or another. If you don't like the result, just write it again. It's all good. What follows is my opinions, so take them if they help you or ignore them if they don't.

My thoughts about any event in a story are pretty simple: Does it advance the story? If not, cut it. If it seems gratuitous by your definition (your question implies this is true), you might want to make the story about what's gratuitous instead and change the genre from fantasy-first to erotica-first.Take care not to provide red herrings by over emphasizing things readers might key into, like sex scenes.

Specifically about sex scenes, especially in genres where they may be rarer than in mainstream: The reader is much better at imagining stuff than most people give them credit for. Consider hinting, innuendo, and metaphor. Eroticism vs an anatomy lesson. In the aftermath, have your characters think about what happened and how they feel about it.

I read the blurb. For me, it makes the story seem more about the act than about what it means to Esor to think he's capable of saying no, why he feels that's so important, and why the premarital encounter is making him crazy.
