And I think quite rightly this is the chance for the #AOU, #ABA and the #checklist #committee to do something never done before in #ornithology...use Cerise as a descriptive nomen for a bird. Who will help me right a proposal to get the Cassia Red Crossbill name changed to the Cerise Crossbill?

A male Common #Crossbill feeding (with its unseen mate) on #Haldon, #Devon this morning. They weren't calling but I noticed debris falling from the top of the tree and when I looked up, there they were.

Cracking wander along the side of backwater reservoir today, a nice selection birds around, met another lady out with camera and binoculars and we shared shots of a female Crossbill ....... or two!
