I just went to set up for my new apartment and apparently the line going into the building is blocked for . I've been with TekSavvy for probably close to 20 years (National Capital Freenet before that).

Especially ridiculous that they can do this going into an building and charge tenants whatever ridiculous inflated rates they want.

On the surface, it looks like something one would see in an authoritarian state. But this is entirely the doing of unrestrained, out of control media/telecom corporations and decades of subservient government.

The answer is to ’s latest ask is pretty simple to me: if they don’t want to subsidize local news as an obligation tied to their broadcast licenses then they can give up all of their broadcast licenses and become just a telco that owns copper, fiber, and spectrum.
