I like having a #crtTV in the apartment. It allows me to watch some things the way they were intended to.
Take #TheXFiles , for instance: it was clearly shot with 4:3 in mind throughout its run, and the color correction took advantage of NTSC limitations. It looks beautiful in a way the HD masters don't. Also, it's not always running at 24 fps. The opening credits have shots (Mulder's credential and the falling figure) running at 30 (?).
The HD masters also did the SFX dirty.

Dig around storage ... unpacking ... found something the right colour, but is a weird-ass external hard drive. Maybe ~30MB? Wow. Unpack something else - yes, the #bbcb! Connect to tv, turn it on ... Poof! #magicSmoke from the PSU. 😰

The composite video inputs on my trinitron don't work, the audio does however that's useless to me lol

I'm able to plug the composite cables into the component inputs (resulting in a black and white image) and while this works for now and I'm getting Wii component cables... I wish the composite inputs worked

I could get a switcher perhaps for the component input

Look at what I got for free at a neighbor's :blob_cat_eyes_owo: It was for the batbunny stand and some cool cursed analog horror but I reaally want to try to play some ps2 games on it. Maybe i'll get lucky and find an affordable silent hill 2 copy in the wild (one can dream lol).

But first we have to check if it actually works...

It's almost 2023 and I'm still trying to find a Sears model 4185 TV from the mid-1970s. They were solidly built sets made by Toshiba. I grew up watching one and would love to have one again. #crttv #vintageelectronics

Finished my work and now I'm taking my first break in a really long time, just playing NES games ona CRT monitor. It's wild -- it really makes a big difference wrt playability. We had this system hooked up to a different monitor, a crisp new one, and it was really difficult to distinguish forms and shapes. On the CRT though? Perfect. #retrogames #nes #crttv #gaming
