Trying to update/fix/upgrade our solar/battery while in Brazil is a bit stressful. We killed all our batteries by using the tiller pilot on overcast days. Got the bill for 8 years of #CruisingLife: A visit to the dermatologist. Nothing serious luckily, a few shots of a high powered laser into my arm and some photos and a lot of going over my skin with a nifty LED lit magnifying glass that I totally want to have.

Guess cruising most of the time with the #Bimini up prevented the worst, and being mostly a good bald boy and wearing a hat (now a doctors recommendation).

But yes, do be wary of UV when #sailing. #Windburn is actually just #sunburn.

Tool tip: These Japanese pliers are specifically designed for gripping screws with damaged heads, so you can remove them when they no longer want to be removed.

I've used them a lot on the boat and still find them quite useful with car and house work.

One of the (formerly Volvo) ocean race boats had an #orca encounter. At 12 knots, so speed is no defense. Interestingly, they managed to record some underwater footage of it, the best I've seen yet.

The banging noises don't seem to bother the Orcas much. And it looks more like play, at least in the part recorded (after they dropped sails to slow down).
