John Kirkwood's Crumpets:
180g Weizenmehl
235 ml warmes Wasser
1 TL Trockenhefe
1/2 TL Salz
1 TL Backpulver

Die Hefe im Wasser auflösen.
Mehl, Backpulver und Salz gleichmäßig vermischen

Mehlmischung und Hefewasser mit dem Handmixer vermischen. 45 Minuten gehen lassen.
In einer heißen Pfanne in Förmchen bei ca 180°C backen bis die geplatzten Bläschen sich nicht mehr schließen. Dann den Ring abziehen und wenden. Insgesamt 5 Min Backdauer.

Well, maybe #Kentiverse can settle a debate.  I’m told that in #Kent in days of yore i.e. 1960s you could go to a tea shop and get toasted buttered ( #English ) #crumpets in the winter but not Summer, and toasted buttered #teaCakes in the Summer but not Winter.  Possibly neither in #hotCrossBun season, we’re not sure.

We're making pizza this week so that means lots of #sourdough #discard to use up. Luckily I have a great recipe to make #crumpets rather than having to throw it away.

It's a fancy sainsbury free from one. Soft but firm and a lovely gentle spicy christmas fruit smell, non toasted. Just slicing and a slice of butter.
