These -like occur around but are most highly concentrated in the , which also happens to be one of the fast-warming places on the planet. That’s bad news for krill β€” and everything that depends on them β€” which is a lot.

Only a few inches long, Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) may be small, but their contributions to the are massive β€” much like the swarms themselves.

Question of the week: ’ Why do animals keep evolving into ? ’

livescience.com/animals/crusta

’ Wolfe thinks of crabs and other like Lego creations: They have many different components that can be swapped out without dramatically changing other features. So it's relatively straightforward for a cylindrical body to flatten out, or vice versa. But for better or worse, humans won't be turning into crabs anytime soon. "Our body isn't modular like that." Today is Shrimp Sunday, so here's a photo of a... shrimp? what the unknown artist thought a shrimp was like, I guess. Painted in the 80's or 90's on the walls of a nearby street.

Last day of , A sunny day on the beach. I was searching for an Onchidium or Chiton, but instead of exotic molluscs just found a lot of arthropods. A sea roach, fiddler crab and tiger beetle.

It is unfathomable to me to think about how such tiny beings can exist and thrive. A "Dairy Cow" isopod, barely any bigger than the nail on my thumb, is alone so small I could never even begin to comprehend living a life on that scale - but then to them to compare their children? Who are nothing short of nearly unnoticeable specks of dust? Impossible, and incredibly astonishing!

Porcellio laevis "Dairy Cow" are certainly prolific breeders, to say the least.
