I like aspects of their letter, too.
What I also like is watching the attempts to constrain the #Anthropocene since #Crutzen . I wouldn't call 20 years a "rush". Nor do I fear that a potential agreement on the constraint would be "invalidating the innovative ways in which the concept is being used and applied".
I take the authors' fear in this regard as a tiny sign of hubris – as if the #geology community could dictate how the broader society fills or doesn't fill the concept with meaning.
