What this article and pretty much every other one, leaves out is that #WikiLeaks - having advertised that the password had leaked and was public - deliberately published the encrypted file the day before #Cryptome published the decrypted one.

They literally tweeted it out.

It's in the public record, journalists noted it at the time, it's still up on Twitter, and it's archived.

But now it's become one of the many inconvenient facts that's become quickly forgotten and frequently shushed because heaven forbid we build a case based on - and capable of standing up to - actual facts
