Seriously, this beamline is utterly dope. In vacuum sample environment. Off-axis TEM to image sub-micron-sized samples. Microcrystal slurry loaded on EM Grids.

Holy shit our 2-5pm session ran right on time until the final 10 minutes, which we allocated for a group discussion and which ran over BY ANOTHER HALF HOUR. It was so cool to see such enthusiasm, and actually really solid engagement across subdisciplines (macromolecular vs small molecule, synchrotron vs XFEL, etc) and career levels.

This was the Serial #Crystallography session at the ACA, which I co-chaired with Petra Fromme. What an experience. Thank you to everyone who participated.

In this work, we combine #crystallography, #cryoEM, #AlphaFold predictions, biochemical and mouse studies to unveil the 3D structure of vertebrate egg coat filaments and describe how cleavage of their #ZP2 subunit hardens the coat, establishing a permanent block to #polyspermy.
