There's a cuckoo in a nearby park and I'd never heard so clearly that it sounds like a cuckoo clock as this morning.
I also heard busy-sounding reed warblers. I think someone is up for a rude awakening this spring. (Cuckoos are parasite breeders that lay eggs in other's nests, frequently reed warblers.)

The main bird species you can hear ia the chaffinch (I think), but there's also wood pigeon, crows and a rather persistent cuckoo in there. You'll need the sound on in order to appreciate this video.

So this morning’s #DogWalk was a little different; it appears it’s now summer, as it’s suddenly hot and sunny here today. We’ve still got muddy puddles that reach halfway up my wellies, but it looks like they should be drying up soon. In #SpringWatch news, we saw a cuckoo fly between tree tops while persistent calling. We also heard a nightingale in fine voice going for it in a hedgerow As we passed by. Lots of different butterflies on the wing too. #Cuckoo #Nightingale

I saw my first swallows last Friday - there were five of them today feeding on the wing at the Claddagh this morning. And yesterday morning, I spotted apair of bullfinches - the male one was good enough to land near me.
