The jalapeños have been racing to the red stage for a few weeks. The lemon cucumber bush did a sudden lurch through the garden and started popping out fruit. This is the first time with each. Now we know how many lemon cucumbers to plant (1) and where to get our (real) jalapeños.
A real jalapeño is not the one engineered at Texas A&M to be milder and more palatable to a broader market.

I harvested kind of a lot of food tonight. I got three gallons of #cucumbers, a pound and a half of sweet red #peppers (from the wasps’ plant) and *two pounds* of little #eggplants!
I felt very silly, sweet talking the wasps as I slowly, slowly clipped peppers. But they were all lined up, staring at me, so I kept talking and tried not to shake their bush.
There’s another, slightly larger nest under the siding just around the corner in the first picture. Watering all those bins is moderately terrifying 😂
Warning: if you tell me how to get rid of wasps I’ll block you! I already know how to get rid of wasps. What I’m learning now is how to coexist with them.

I’m equal parts delighted and terrified by my #cucumbers. Two days ago I got 15, and forgot to pickle them, and today I got 28 more. Do I even have that many jars? I’m eating them as fast as I can but I’m losing the war. I’ve ordered some food safe plastic 2 gallon buckets to help.
I’m growing two varieties, “Mideast peace” and “Addis pickle,” and Mideast is far and away my favorite. I’m only going to grow it next year.

Fifteen more #cucumbers from two plants 😅 and I picked some #squash too! I let one of the “goldini” get fairly large, so I can test dehydrating it. And I grabbed one of the “tall white Maycock landrace” that looks like a typical summer squash to dry as well. The other plant is growing green round things! I think I’ll probably let those go for winter squash.
And the “candystick” delicatas and “sweet meat” winter squash are starting to set fruit and escape their beds.

I am only one person, so I have only a small #garden, nevertheless, #vegetables are coming in faster than I can eat them. I'm full up on #pickles #dried and frozen food, so this may all be excess.

The early black krim are a bit small, as are the Roma and MM76. The SS100 in the clay dish are casualties of storm damage, sometimes they ripen on the counter.

We don't just grow flowers, so showing off our 2nd yr #raspberry bush has produced plenty of little fruits this year. Last year because it was new it only produced a few, but this year as it was more established, it's produced lots!
Hubby regularly grows #cucumbers and zucchinis, but the zucchinis are a no go with so many slugs. But we've had better success with cucumbers, and our first decent looking one is a winner!
