was just reading up about the 1935 film, 'sylvia scarlett' (starring katharine hepburn & cary grant). turns out, the author of the novel upon which it's based is compton mackenzie, founder of the national party of scotland (scotland's first political party to campaign for scottish self-determination). also, he defeated oswald moseley...to the post of rector of university of #glasgow in 1934. can you imagine if moseley'd got the job? bleurgh.
