So, I managed to catch up with The Long Road North before the show. Imo the band has improved with each album and each album is better than the previous one. By that logic alone TLRN is their best album so far. But man, Vertikal is one hell of a record. It won't let me go. There's a few albums I'm prone to tooting about over and over cause I love them so much.

'Mariner' by Cult Of Luna & Julie Christmas is one such album.

It has the doomy, atmospheric Post-Metal sounds of Cult Of Luna, with some really fantastic and unusual vocals from Julie Christmas.

Her background is apparently in noise rock, and the style here runs the full gamut from clean singing to shrieking and yelling.

For the record Christmas is probably my favourite singer (the variety she offers with her voice is amazing, the first time I heard her voice in a Made out of Babies album is a milestone in my musical journey, Battle of Mice was incredible because of her, and the collab with #CultOfLuna is in my top 5 of all time), and Pleasants is not only an amazing singer (from scream to melodic singing) but hell of a guitar player and a very influential musician for me.
