Barrow. It's a shipbuilding town that's nearly part of the lovely Lake District. So, in our area, we've got big tourism, smallish industry that's really big in special things, and normal economic stuff. Old towns, especially Barrow, are rundown and poor.
Here's the news. Govt is trying to level up, without spending extra money. Just magic. 1/2

It's the end of the summer holidays.

Just as a heatwave arrives!

So we got up nice and early to hike to Colwith Force, snapping some gorgeous woodland and waterfall scenery. Added extra, swirling mist and fog burning away from the mountain tops.

Plenty more photos from this day are waiting for you right here -> iancylkowski.com/blog/2023/9/6 👍

We retraced yesterday night run in Cumbria -12k along the old ‘concrete road’ that was constructed to enable the building of the reservoir near Sleddale.

A real autumn morning 🥶 but back for an early breakfast and then some inevitable work.

Night run on a visit to Cumbria

12k by moonlight this evening under a baleful moon. A dry day and a blissfully clear sky.

I hope I'm wrong, but that UK Govt announcement about cancelling requirements is actually about polluting a selected set of the most important natural sites, like 4 specific parts of the Lake District National Park. Here's a link to our local map.

If you want a walk with great views but without the effort of scaling major peaks, try this to Latterbarrow. See the whole length of Windermere, Crinkle Crags, Langdale Pikes and more. Route details at tinyurl.com/4pr4y5ru

What passes for a breakthrough:

Some of the UK's oldest spent nuclear fuel to be moved from a "'locked vault' with no plan for retrieving its contents or decommissioning the building" into a "newly built facility at the site."

In a county called Dumbria, that the yocals call , in the , many of local folk & folk tourists that pollute the area, like nothing more than burning wood.

Check out the description of a holiday cottage in the area, the odds are that a "log fire" will be advertised.

Also, the yocal farmers, when their not busy moving sheep using diesel trucks from field to field, enjoy burning piles of wood on their land

But, burning wood causes disease (particle pollution) & (CO2)
