Another visit to Bowling Green Marsh, #Exeter, #Devon over high tide and the mud was full of #Redshank, #Dunlin, #Godwit (mostly Black-tailed but a couple of Bar-tailed for good measure), #Curlew, #Whimbrel #Ruff, #Knot and three Kingfisher. The evening sun made for good light along with a pleasant group of people in the hide.

In fact, today was the first time this summer that I've seen so many waders on the reserve. A sign, perhaps, that the season is turning already. We went on a late night picnic last night and these bush-stone-curlews were bugging us for our snacks. I wanted to capture their anxiety and heavily expressive eyes. I think the one in the middle looks more like a curlew than the other two but I would like it to have more fear-of-god in the eyes.
I want to build up to creating a sticker I can slap around Brisbane I think that'd be fun. And what better subject than everyone's favourite stilt chicken.

Today I went back to a nature reserve in the area... Mostly swamp area. I wanted to check whether the #blacktailedgodwit the #NorternLapwing and the #Curlew were already back from their Winter break... I spotted a few of each but this one... On top of the only bumb in the area was really showing off that he made it again. Couldn’t resist to capture it. Spring 🤗🌤
