This one has a much bigger station building, including a toilet!

Interestingly, it has a gravel platform.

There's also a guestbook and a bag with some information about the local area sitting on the bench.

This station, too, is scheduled to be abolished.

I love it when I go to a convenience store and buy a bunch of food and they give me 2 sets of chopsticks as though I’m not just going to sit out on the curb and eat everything before I leave because I keep those extra chopsticks and I get to have them for times like tonight where I’m eating ramen at a lake instead of a parking lot.

Stopped into a cafe and the owners saw my bike and had so many questions!

Then they called a farm about a week down the road to see if I can camp there. I can!

I freaking love this country.

#CycleTouring pro tip: stick a bag of jelly beans or sweet tarts or your favorite snack that will survive the punishment in the bottom of one of your panniers. You’ll find it one day exactly when you need it.

Hi fellow #Cyclists and #Cycletouring enthusiasts. Have any of you had experience as a user or host on #warm_showers or any equivalent?

I toyed with the idea of joining up a couple of years ago and then COVID sent the world to hell in a handcart but I'm considering it again so any thoughts would be interesting.

Walked into a cafe across the street from my accommodation to have a late night tea and relax a bit.

Owner asked me a few questions about what I was doing etc and suddenly the entire place, which was full of high school kids studying for their cram school, was surrounding me and asking me questions and practicing their English and such.

Their cram school teacher walked in a bit later and they fell over themselves telling him about my trip.

Stuff like this keeps me going.

Ok! I am now in Sapporo after an 8 day stretch!

I had one short day (60km) and one REALLY short day (30km) but I rode every day. Over 100km a couple of the days.

I’m *beat*.

Also getting into Sapporo was super stressful. This path I was following along the river kept ending, turning, dumping me into wrong way traffic, disappearing, etc. 2/10.

Overall though this past week has been incredible and now I finally feel like I’m really bike touring. Finally. :)

Ugh this last day’s ride into Sapporo is kinda awful.

Stroadsville and there are no alternate routes for most of it. At best I can ride on a side street through part of town for a bit before I have to go back to the highway for a pinch point (tunnel/bridge)

Though it does look like there might be a nice river path from the sea to the center of town for the last 10km or so so I’m looking forward to that.

Pretty hefty climb before I get there though.
