Unless someone provides a program with #root #privilegues it can only mess up the $HOME of the user account which it runs under.

This is why the default config for servers like #Apache and #PostgreSQL to literally be run as #daemons or rather #systemD services under dedicaded user accounts, so a webserver - even when hacked - can't f**k up the system.

It's part of the #KISS-Approach to #Users and #Groups in #POSIX and is supplemented with #AppArmour...

Pan was a wild nature deity. He is the basis of the word "panic", as he gets angry when disturbed.

He was associated with Faunus, the #Roman god of fertility. This association lent horns & goat feet to Faunus & a connection with #sex to Pan.

Satyrs & Seilenos were also hot-tempered hoofed #nature #daemons. They too were associated with Pan & the #wine god #Dionysos.

Christians saw all #sin in him.

@Homebrewandhacking I feel you! I grew up in such a culture and the lack of awareness that is being fostered is mind-boggling. It’s the same with #disabilities. Disabilities are ubiquitous “swear words”, totally othering disabled people. I wish humanity would transition to a more humane state, fast. At least we can escape into our #RPG worlds and pretend the true horror are #Daemons #Tyranids and whatnot and not homo hominis lupus.
