I have some wasabi crackers that I jokingly call my "pain snacks" because they're so hot. Today I was eating some when the 6-year-old came up to me and asked me what I was eating.

"Pain snacks"
"Oh. What do they taste like?"
"Pain!"
"Can I have one?"
"...I'll give you half of one go to the trash can so you can spit it out if you need to."

This kid eats the cracker and starts fanning her mouth like she's dying, then turns around and asks for the other half.

What have I done?

Today I was going over my development plan with my boss and one of the things I listed as an improvement was "building relationships". My boss turns to me and very sincerely tells me "突つくさん、you're very good at creating relationships. The reason you are struggling with them is because you prefer isolation. It's a behavioral thing."

My god do I feel personally attacked. 😭

Okay so someone FINALLY asked the question I've been excitedly waiting to answer for a very long time.

While I was driving around, one of gf's kids very seriously asked me "Tsutsuku, are you a boy or a girl?" Her mind was totally blown when I happily responded "both!"

I was pretty excited when I found out that my team was going to one-day-per-week hybrid because I don’t have a workspace at home and I miss the socialization. Every week I’m like “aww yeah time to go meet my coworkers” and every week I show up and abruptly realize that I’m still face-blind and don’t know who anyone is, get hit with crippling social anxiety, and go hide on the third floor.

Not to brag but I went out on my walk and found a cute girl and she kissed me all over my face and stuck her tongue in my mouth a little bit. There was even some heavy petting involved. Such a cute puppy!

Only one place in 90s Nagoya for burgers that wasn't in a "gaijin bar" - Uptown Diner in Sakae. It was adorable, with real American diner decor and delicious chocolate milkshakes in frosty glasses. Unfortunately, it also had the slowest and worst service of any Japanese establishment I've ever been to. I'll never forget sitting on the deck and watching the surly, petite waitress march out with her serving tray and bellow, "HAMBURGER!"

A really good hamburger can easily be found in Japan these days, but in the early 90s it was hard to find. Actually, Denny's had a great burger back then. Yes, you read that right. The Denny's menu used to have good burgers and Grand Slam-ish American breakfasts, until they went all in with local market preferences and became as Japanese as could be.

There was pre-sliced cantaloupe on sale at the store so I bought some. I just went to go grab a slice and, I don't know how, as soon as I picked it up I accidentally catapulted it halfway across the kitchen. This is basically how my entire life is today. A sad, smushed, accidentally catapulted cantaloupe.

I’m bored of doing stuff on my phone, so I set my phone down on the desk and instead went to take my phone out of my pocket.

Me: I haven't received the requirements yet so I can't do anything. Do you know when I will get them?

Project manager: Well, I can't get them to you today but I'll probably send them to you sometime this week.

At this point, my chances of hitting the deadline are rapidly diminishing...

Today I needed to get an Embarrassing Item (EI) at the grocery store. I went to the self-checkout to spare myself, put my bags in, and scan EI so I could put it away ASAP. The second bag fell off and when I reset it. "Unexpected item in bagging area, please call cashier".
Cashier quickly verifies that EI is the only item in the bag and clears me.
I scan the next item. Barcode broken. Cashier comes over AGAIN and enters it for me.
I scan the next item. Alcohol. Call cashier. FML.
