Tuesday #DailyTracks Some close friends have become impatient/disappointed that what looked to be a "full steam ahead" phase for #music & return to blogging has seemingly stalled out but context is rather brighter: Success of independent work in #2021 lifted us out of a *very very* long slog so most of #2022 was in celebration of...victory ! But then of course ambition. Why shouldn't a fully funded year beget 2 more fully funded years ? And so the hunt for sigma 7 began. Still celebrating btw

That means messaging the move over a few weeks.Make it serve multiple goals and make it fun. No need to scorch the same parking lot twice

Tuesday #DailyTracks : Enjoying the holidays, catching up on synth programming and some new arranging.Have talked to fellow musos about nagging (er-promoting !)a few exemplars into coming to #Mastodon but many of them are old and grumpy and on six other platforms already (and nearly over most of them). It literally is a fools errand right now. Patience

Tuesday #DailyTracks : Headline , opening and support for major tours are still great gigs if you can get them . Everything else is...well itza pretty mixed bag depending on who you ask. The situation for new acts was challenging before. It's only gotten worse . There will always be exceptions. New bands comprised of members not all dependent on music for a paycheck are a natural evolution in this situation. Then there is space to breath. That keeps the music making viable

Science has taken the pressure off music as a go/no go situation but the arbitrage means things that represented musical dream gigs in youth are now eh - how much ? That seems absurd for the much younger version in search of bright lights, big city. Hope it's not dementia...

Friday #DailyTracks : Life was already hard enough for musos and bands before this but at a certain point the notion of silence as complicity becomes unavoidable. Read the room as best you can . There are alternatives. #Mastodon is very good. That is absolutely the last comment on that situation from these parts

Sunday #DailyTracks So a little bit late but tonight we complete our invocation of the seasonal #FestivalOfLights which reaches across all faiths and all hopes, the one and the many- and seeks not dominion but simple unity and equality for all. Friday #DailyTracks : Survival for those with an independent streak can be brutal in any field and musicians certainly have more than a fair share of that pie. Feast or famine is the rule and when it's feast the curse is often about opportunities scrunched too close together in the timeline, so the thing you really want to do is in direct conflict with the thing that puts you farther ahead. Only rarely are they the same thing ! Go with whatever insulates you better against the next catastrophe

Sunday #DailyTracks : This was the Twitter vehicle for musical developments in tandem with https://killeansrow.com . The continuo here finds us working on getting a video & streaming channel up & running on YouTube, doing studio upgrades, synth patch programming and just having fun with the process. A bit of writing, then celebration yesterday working thru some Yes music. Am finding the #Helix 3.5 update is a monster & giving guitar synth some interesting new twists. Much more coming
