I signed up for a book making class when I was feeling frustrated over the whole social media landscape so I decided just to be social.
Below is the notebook I created. Not pictured are the lovely people I met who shared stories and skills. This is also what I want out of my online experience. And so far mastodon has been a wonderful place of sharing and learning. So thanks all of you out there for reading this and sharing your own interests and experiences.
Have you looked up today? You could appreciate some symmetry or spot a yellow jacket nest.
Waking up for #5amwritersclub only to take a break for #bloomscrolling Usually each flower is an immediate favorite. But with my laptop screen set to easy-eyes mode, the colors are shifted and muted. And I do not feel the same electric buzz of attraction.
Are the flowers themselves any less beautiful? Their symmetry and pictorial textures remain intact. What is it about their colors that is so important to me for greater appreciation? What else would change with my changing perceptions? How deeply does appreciation need to dig to form a true love?

The cicadas are percussion rattling from treetops. The wind bows tree branches like a double bass. My breaths add whistles. Together we become an orchestra.
As important as getting words down on paper is, just as important to our writing lives is the moments we step outside, look at the stars and fill ourselves with the wonder behind those words.
Find your wonder. Fill your words.

Walk into a spice and tea store and my senses are bathed in aroma. Some familiar scents, some strange but all blended into an olfactory puzzle that my mind may not be lateral thinking enough to unknot. But it is no less alluring.
This is the clearest rainbow I've ever seen. I was seeing extra colors, I swear.
The texture of storm clouds.
Beauty is as much in zooming in as it is zooming out. Textures of skin can be just at breathtaking as a landscape.
In which direction is this pumpkin shifting?

My head fits inside of the helmet that a four-year-old uses. Thank goodness it's the neural connections that determine how smart I am and not how much room I have in my cranium.
A Luna moth's markings are so starkly differentiated on it's wings as to look painted on. They are thought to deter predators.
Use your own art to deter predators. Use it as defense, as weapon. Skewer the anxieties of your mind on your quill or brush.
How does your art help you survive?
#dailywonder Spend an hour picking through grass and you'll find yourself wondering all sorts of things about plants.
Like the benefits of growing sideways and not straight up. Like the companionship between clover and bermudagrass and flowering ivy.
And wondering just how they can all conspire against you to hide the small circle of concrete you're looking for. Like searching for a fairy door. #amwriting #fantasy

#dailywonder Why didn't English favor persons as the plural of person. It's there but not in wide usage. Any #etymology people out there perhaps know this. Otherwise I'll go digging in a moment.
#dailywonder Dog hair does nothing to diminish the shine of glitter. It accentuates it. What have you noticed today?
