- a melanistic fallow deer (Dama dama) buck with large, well-developed antlers
- a menil fallow deer buck with strong antler genetics
- one of the local foxes (Vulpes vulpes)

A family group of fallow deer were near our dam as I arrived home from #RFS training. I count two does with December fawns at heel, a yearling doe, and a yearling buck, who has managed to grow a single spike antler at the end of his first year. He'll be off with the big boys next year.
For many reasons, some people don't like them. While I acknowledge them as an introduced species that can be a pest presence, we don't have so many here as to cause damage. I feel fortunate to have them so close, alongside our native fauna.

This unit was hanging out at my back fence this morning. There was another big buck about 30m further away. As soon as he picked me up moving *inside the house* he made off.

One of two fallow deer bucks coming into antler that were about 20m off our back fence this morning. I didn't have time to get decent shots before they moved down the hill behind them. Hopefully, they'll be back in the next couple of days.

A young fallow deer buck is just hanging out having breakfast 30m from the house. He's very likely attracted to the archery target as they are starting to get hormonal as they grow their antlers for the rut in March and April.
