I never get tired of taking shots of the Common Flashwing (Vestalis amethystina), spotted at Dairy Farm Nature Park, Singapore, on 1 Sept 2023. A flash brings out the purple highlights on its wings.
The Flashwings are among the largest damselflies to be found locally: larger than some small dragonflies.

AM critter highlights. Central #Texas, August 2023
I'm a bit under the weather this morning, so this'll be brief.
1) A silvery damsel fly amid damp earth & pebbles.
2) A bumblebee on a sunflower.
3) A grasshopper in the (invasive) Santa Maria Feverfew. They were clearly ready for their closeup.
4) And an encore appearance by a cuckoo in a walnut tree!

Iām very much an amateur when it comes to bugs, but Iād hazard a guess that they are a pair of emerald damselflies (in an intimate moment š³) and a male common darter but Iād be pleased to hear from anyone who knows these things!

A Violet Sprite (Archibasis viola) spotted at Ulu Sembawang Park Connector, Singapore, on 9 July 2023. An uncommon damselfly, this one would take off and land at any sudden movement, so I had to slowly approach it to get this shot.
