Imagine if you were trying to use a power saw or a vacuum cleaner and it stopped to run a commercial message by you about upcoming new features.

That's how commercial software is these days: frequently interfering with your capability to simply *use* it, as a tool to get something done, in the service of commercial messaging for the software vendor.

I, for one, do not welcome our new subscription-model overlords.
