The newest #lunar orbiter KPLO or #Danuri from Korea carries six instruments, one of them being the NASA-funded #ShadowCam. Designed and built by Malin Space Science Systems (MSSS), ShadowCam is a younger sibling of the successful Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC), Narrow Angle Camera (NAC). 🛰️🌑 Le 28 novembre dernier, la sonde coréenne #Danuri se trouvait environ 489 000 km de la Terre, soit 4 fois la distance sonde/Lune.
Du coup, la Terre et la Lune apparaissent de tailles similaires sous la caméra de #KPLO.

Danuri, de allereerste maan-orbiter van Zuid-Korea, heeft ons zwartwit-foto’s van het maanoppervlak en de Aarde gestuurd.

Danuri – een samenvoeging van de Koreaanse woorden voor ”Maan” en “genieten” – werd in augustus 2022 met een SpaceX-raket van de Verenigde Staten gelanceerd en kwam vorige maand in een baan om de Maan.
