I just hate when characters do a 180 change with no real development to support it. There is no reason to give #GRRM a pass here as he was involved in #GoT and has had ample time to finish the other books and build out that potential path for #Dany. I'd still be salty, but at least there would have been something to maybe support it. Instead, the theme is that you're doomed to succumb your nature. There is no hope

Her efforts to nurture herself and her mental health were therefore futile. It is really disgusting to me. I'm not saying she had to win the throne or win at all. I'm just very against the Mad Queen arc because it cheapens everything her character did in pursuit of personal well-being. Dany being betrayed by her advisors sure, her losing her mind is foul play

What #GRRM and the TV show did was a quick and dirty kill using #mentalillness as the justification for it. #Dany, like any reasonable person who thought they were at risk, was taking extra measures to prevent exactly what the writers lazily decided. It is a slap in the face to all those who seek to better themselves - which she was trying to do as a very lonely young woman.

As Dany progresses, she understands that inherited tendencies she may have to "madness". Her fear of having #MentalIllness of some kind pushes her to find advisors and supports that will supposedly help her stay sane. I could go on for days about this, but my quick point is, her madness arc was shit

When #Dany watched Viserys have a pot of molten gold poured on him and react with satisfaction I knew #ASOIAF was special. When GRRM straight up took out what in *any other* fantasy epic would be the main character he had me as a fan for life.
P.S. She’s on the path to burning Kings Landing the whole time. The WHOLE TIME. It’s not a change of character, it is fully embracing her true self. Fire and blood, my friends. #FireAndBlood
