Ran a really good Dark Heresy session today. Did I take so much as a single picture? Of course not.

Session highlights included our investigators having tea with a gibbering madman, visiting an art gallery and doing a lot of archival research.

I think it's the sheer randomness of Fear checks in #DarkHeresy that amuses me.

GM: "You see a portal to the warp open, from which a hideous daemon emerges, its face mostly a gaping maw of lamprey-like teeth dripping acidic ichor upon the floor."

PC: "I stand firm, perfectly stoic as I carefully aim my next shot."

GM: "That thing over there looks kind of creepy."

PC: "I GIGGLE AND VIOLENTLY ATTACK MY OWN ALLIES."

Playing #DarkHeresy (the #Warhammer40k RPG for Inquisitorial underlings) this evening. I play Merik Salk, a naive Adept scholar who would be useless in a fight if I hadn't rolled the Frenzy talent at character creation.

We're currently locked in a crematorium, hostage to a rogue trader's evil puppet, and Merik has just fluffed a Fear check, so I'm kicking off by attacking my own allies.

I drew Merik recently. I hope it captures his essence: armed and oblivious.

#ImperiumMaledictum sounds like a real spiritual successor to #DarkHeresy, with the option of working for other factions than the original's Inquisition only approach.

The classes sound more toned down from the original, which is a surprise to me. Starting PCs in #DarkHeresy were very far from, "The best of the best," but it sounds like there might be more flexibility in progression. Time will tell...

* #7thSea 2e - kind of a divisive opinion apparently, but I really like the narrative focus and alternative approaches to many things TTRPG. It made me rethink a lot of things
* #Warhammer40k #DarkHeresy (and most of the other stuff C7 has put out) because of the setting and more gritty combat.
* #Pathfinder 2e, because this has to be the most accessible rule set I've ever read!
