Mika is a woman of color who generally wears her hair in an afro blow out as it's pretty natural for her hair. She's not overly concerned with styling and would rather work with the hair that naturally curls outward anyway.

As someone who is not of the culture I have to be very careful in describing her hair.

I have a lot of recurring themes in my writing and stories. I like exploring cosmic themes. I tend to have recurring stories that involve legacies and lineage. I tend to write a lot of slice of life moments in fantastical settings. I also enjoy writing protagonists who go through a lot of misfortune. Found families are also a recurring theme in my writing as well.

Poor Mika is more of a fluffy tribble person for sure. She would just like to work a museum job and read. She doesn't need to put up with this #DarkLens shit.

Mental health is a big deal in #DarkLens. I have a number of characters who have their #trauma and characters who have different #mentalHealth concerns.

Gameplay wise, and something I'd love to continue, as the #stress and #sanity system of the prototype where characters have to use their own personal attachment objects to help ground them so they can grapple with the #horror of the events.

Ake was most definitely an indoor person in his life, before the transformation and exposure to the dimension of whatever deity the players aligned him to. Even as The Lich he still prefers to remain within the sunken city but given the global nature of the story he ends up traveling a lot.

I am most definitely an overwriter. It happens with all my projects. I end up writing copious notes and #WorldBuilding details and always end up with a side story or something along the likes. It is the same for @cosmicdash as it is for #DarkLens.

Structurally speaking, I could write 4 unique versions of #DarkLens given the main conceit.

Time for #writingWonders day 7.

Weather and natural disasters play a role in the story and setting of #DarkLens. The idea was that certain climatological disasters were tied to key moments in the sunken city off the coast of Harwell, RI and helped to shape the town as a shell of weirdness that figured into the cosmic battle.

Recurring, persistent fog and rain was another key feature of the town.

Mika tends to fluctuate between clean and messy in her apartment, more like moving things around than ever truly cleaning, especially when it comes to her books and papers for her museum job. She hasn't sat at her dining table to eat in a couple of years. No room, just books.

Time for #WritingWonders 5.

Mika played tennis and ran track in high school. She didn't find herself to be particularly keen on sports, but she does enjoy running, though her smoking habit makes it more taxing than normal.

She mostly runs because she thinks it'll help counteract the smoking, but she doesn't really believe that.

One of the ideas for the game would be balancing stamina and smoking for stress relief - you'd need to be careful

Now onto the fourth #WritingWonders prompt.

For the interactive version of #DarkLens I wrote for my thesis, it was an exploratory text game so I went first-person. In future versions I may stick with third person, especially as I am less enamored with the #chooseYourOwnAdventure device as the story developed substantial since. I care too much about the plot and figured out a way to jump between the four "realities" of the story.

As for Mika's pet peeves, I am taking this in the form of annoyances, so for Mika it is an issue of disorganization when she is dealing with other things outside of her own life and needs. In the sense that she gets annoyed with the museum director's lack of organization, but her own apartment can be a mess, along with the inside of her car.

It's not in the nature of the project for Mika to have a theme song, but two songs I think line up with with #DarkLens would be #GoodbyeHorses by #QLazzarus as in the story she would have loved #SilenceOfTheLambs since it released a couple years prior.

For the entire vibe, however, maybe the theme to #Suspiria by #Goblin, that might work. We'll consider that her theme song.
