Sunday was far too windy for the #LargeFormat camera (more of a Rolleiflex day), my usual 125/210mm lens combo turned out a poor choice for this compact location and the greenery this time of the year (clue in the name) means very little local contrast. I managed to separate the grass from the rocks a bit with an O22 filter, but had to apply steep contract curve in C1, probably too steep to make this #darkroom printable.

Spent lot of July in the #darkroom (making most of not having to heat it) printing photos from the May trip to St Kilda, and then from Lewis, still some of that to do. But have some plans for the #LargeFormat camera in September, and beginning to plan for a winter return to Lewis, that place really got under my skin.

Did you know that the city of San Francisco runs a large community darkroom, with a photo gallery and instructors? That's where I first learned how to develop and scan black and white film.
On Aug 19, classes for fall will open for registration. They typically sell out in minutes, so set your alarms.

In May I was able to work in a colour darkroom in London and realise a project that was hatched in 2019. I call it Zombie Cycling.
The images are colour photograms derived from drawings made by some sort of machine (robots, children's toys, automatons and so on).
The drawings were made through 2019. The prospect of being in a darkroom mid- and post-pandemic was nightmarish
