Werewood, located in Southern Vermont, is notoriously known as one of the "quarantined towns" – areas sealed off by the government for undisclosed reasons. While it appears as a typical suburban town on any given day, legend has it that under a full moon, Werewood physically morphs into a dark, gothic city. Not only does its architecture transform, but every living being, from humans to animals, undergo beastial and bizzarre changes . Neighboring towns have reported seeing these eerie entities prowling their streets during full moon nights. Brave souls who have ventured into Werewood during these times swear they've witnessed the town itself contorting, its buildings shifting and groaning as if they themselves were immense transforming monsters.

Before the Great Darkness, legends spoke of haunted roads where ghostly apparitions were seen crossing at night. However, post-1999, these stories multiplied. A prominent tale centers on a ragged figure named "Gemma," who haunts Illborough Road near the post-noctum town of Eden Falls, England. She is rumored to wander the road at night, seemingly adrift from the world. Those who claim to have seen her believe they are doomed to relive her grisly death in their dreams. Since her end came during the Great Darkness, they can't fully remember the nightmare but sense its deep and horrifying nature.

In a world veiled in post-noctum mysteries, tales of eerie cities and forsaken towns abound. Among them is the urban legend of the Lost Town of Quietville. Travelers, en route to their destinations, often find themselves on winding backroads that lead to this peculiar hamlet. Eyewitnesses recount homes adorned with bizarre symbols, and behind every window, there's a figure with a grotesque hand over their mouth. As if entranced, they continuously sketch these uncanny symbols onto fogged windows, never pausing. Those bold enough to attempt entry assert that the houses lack doors and the windows are unbreakable. Within the town, voices are inexplicably subdued, turning any spoken words into mere whispers. When travelers finally depart from Quietville, they can never locate it again. Some believe that discovering Quietville is a curse; upon death, they will become another silent inhabitant of the town.

The Spirit Photographer is a mysterious figure rumored to wander the globe, snapping photos of unsuspecting individuals. Allegedly, the moment his camera flashes, the person—or, in some instances, people—he photographs vanish, leaving only their shadows behind. Witnesses to this chilling phenomenon claim they can hear screams originating from his camera as he hastily departs the scene. It's widely speculated that he somehow ensnares the souls of his subjects, transporting them back to his shadowy darkroom for purposes that remain unknown.

The Arithym were the tainted Mythra who survived the Tanin Fall, also known as the First Darkness. Much about these beings remains shrouded in mystery, but they were notorious for wearing demonic masks that concealed their horrifying faces, visages so dreadful that merely looking upon them induced madness. The Arithym, now believed to be extinct, frequently used serpent lines to conjure dark energies and spawn malicious creatures and beasts. Sometimes, they would employ dark technologies to harness energies from various bolgias, embodying their power. Little is known about the Arithym's demise, but the shadow of their existence lingers.

The town of Long Sparrow stands as a glaring illustration of the rich exploiting the poor. What sets Long Sparrow apart is its independence from conventional utilities like gas and electricity, as well as the absence of funds allocated for infrastructure such as the refurbishment of decrepit buildings or road repairs. This is attributed to its utilization of a mysterious device known as the "Burnt Offerings Generator," a machine that metamorphoses souls into energy, which in turn powers the town. Governed by the affluent, the impoverished are presented with a grim ultimatum - they can reside within the village, enjoying all its amenities and benefits, but upon death, their souls must fuel the machine. Alternatively, they can opt to spend their life in the dog town and sod cities. Should they consent, they undergo a ritual ensuring that their soul will indeed nourish the machine upon their demise. The wealthy, on the other hand, are exempted from such a fate. Rumors circulate that they partake in a clandestine ceremony that permits them to siphon some of the soul energy for personal use, thereby extending their lifespan.

The Mad Bagger is among the more peculiar exopaths currently at large. Through the testimonies of the few who have managed to escape him, and in the letters he's left behind, he is portrayed as the final hope for a dying universe. His modus operandi involves capturing his victims and placing them into a sizable burlap sack he perpetually carries. However, it is his claim about what the bag contains that proves most unsettling.

The killer asserts that the bag is home to a dark universe teetering on the brink of extinction, or, in his words, a "bolgia." He nourishes this dying universe with people, and in exchange, it endows him with strange capabilities. The Mad Bagger has indeed demonstrated bizarre feats. For instance, it is documented that between the hours of 2 and 3 AM, he can infiltrate any structure - from common households to high-tech security mansions, even prisons. Some victims have reported swarms of flies emerging from his bag, while another claimed to have heard unnervingly pitched voices singing from its abyssal depths.

However, some scholars do not consider him an exopath at all, but instead believe he might be the sentient manifestation of a dying universe striving to sustain itself. Regardless of his exact nature, the Mad Bagger remains notoriously elusive and possesses abilities that remain largely unexplained.

The Thorn and Bramble schools were established as covert endeavors by occult organizations, such as the Brimstone Society, aiming to infiltrate affluent and influential families in order to manipulate their offspring. These institutions masqueraded as nanny and tutoring businesses, employing men and women who were actually practitioners of dark arts and members of secret cabals. Their intention was to indoctrinate the children into their clandestine groups by taking them into the woods and teaching them secret occult practices, including covert rituals and forging demonic alliances. The ultimate goal was to ensure that as the children grew older and inherited their parents' wealth, they would advance the hidden agendas of these secret cabals and amass greater political power.

During the 1870s and 1880s, numerous suspicious deaths occurred within well-to-do families, and the offspring of these families redirected funds to dubious organizations. It wasn't until 1895, following the suspicious demise of Avery and Diane Fitzgerald, that authorities initiated an investigation into these educational agencies. Eventually, in 1896, the Sills Company underwent scrutiny and was subsequently indicted for murder and an array of other charges. The members of this organization faced execution the following year.

In an entirely distinct context, the present-day Post Noctum world has become fertile ground for the resurgence of the Thorn and Bramble Schools. Initial evidence points towards the Brimstone Society, now operating under a different name—the Osculuum—as the orchestrators, although the involvement of other cabals cannot be dismissed. Over time, notable figures have met their demise under suspicious circumstances, leaving their descendants to inherit vast wealth and lend support to the Nocturnalist lobby or make extravagant donations to Ravelynn University—a sanctuary for clandestine societies.

According to the Dark Scholars, the Tanin are an ancient race of behemoth creatures that once roamed the earth. These entities were believed to dwell on Dragon Lines, which are understood as geometric alignments of local energies. The creatures drew sustenance from these energies.

Many academics and mystics are of the view that the Hebrews and Canaanites had knowledge of these beasts. In fact, it's posited that numerous cultures may have had different names for them. For instance, in Judeo-Christian apocalypse lore, they are referred to as Leviathan and Behemoth. Nordic traditions speak of the Midgard Serpent - a gigantic serpent that encircles the earth. Greek mythology presents the Hydra, Typhon, Echidna, and the Titans. These depictions may have been different cultures' attempts to understand these massive creatures.

However, the Dark Scholars currently face the enigma of the whereabouts of these creatures. Some hypothesize that they were exterminated by other subterranean races, such as the Bae'ulle. Others theorize that they either departed or were displaced, with the energies of the ley lines serving as portals to other realms.

Sathoniss, known as the Unbegotten of Darkness, reigns over the Bolgia of Endless Night. Little is understood about this Unbegotten, except that it is timeless and without origin. The Noxxites, pejoratively referred to as "Dark Hats," are suspected of worshipping this entity. Sathoniss is believed to have existed in the First Darkness, the initial black void before the suns were ignited, but was repelled back to its own realm when the suns mysteriously came to life. The Bolgia of Endless Night is thought to be comprised of this First Darkness, which threatens to consume the universe once more if Sathoniss gains a foothold in our current universe.

The Esoterium is a significant organization, constituted of smaller, loosely connected clandestine entities. These diverse occult groups elected to unite to curb the influence and devastation wrought by the various Walks of Darkness and their affiliated malevolent organizations. However, the distinct cabals that form the Esoterium, while sharing common objectives, are predominantly autonomous. Each is governed by its own Esotarch (the head of a given esotary) and harbors its own secretive agendas. Consequently, the Esoterium might appeaudioar as a stable consolidation of like-minded factions, but in actuality, these alliances are frequently fragile, with each cabal pursuing their individual objectives. Despite this, the Esoterium has proven efficient in halting the spread of dark forces influencing the world. Some of the groups in the Esoterium include 9th House, the Consortium of Doors, the Keepers of a Thousand Secrets, the Sinastradi, and many others.

An enigma unearthed shortly after the Great Darkness of 1999 was the Black Leaf Forest. As its name implies, all the leaves in this woodland are inexplicably black. Perhaps more intriguing is the rumor that a reigning witch resides within these trees. Many trespassers of this forest have been found suspended from the branches of these ominously colored trees, presumably positioned there by the Old Witch of the Trees. Yet, her havoc is not confined to this foreboding forest. Indeed, bodies have been discovered in other woods, hanging from the trees. Notably, regardless of the forest they are found in, the tree from which the victim dangles always boasts black leaves.

A Penitant, aka- a Golden Shadow. These miserable Walks of Darkness have been converted by the One Church to do the good work of Aknew, the One God. Once put through a very singular, soul searing torture/conversion process, these Walks of Darkness serve out their sentence for sinning as warriors and gaurdians for ranking members of the church.

The strange town of PaleHenge appeared overnight after a record-breaking thunderstorm in 1953 in Vermont. The name stems from the fact that the abandoned town is populated by giant white megaliths and dolmens similar to Stonehenge. Various geologists have found that the stones possess strange electromagnetic characteristics that are as of yet unidentified. However, there are stories of people going into Palehenge and disappearing, especially during thunderstorms. Some who have been there say the stones transport you to different horrific realities, the effect of which is facilitated by the frequent thunderstorms there. Indeed, many who visit the strange site go missing, usually during thunderstorms.

The House on a Thousand Corners is a post-noctum legend. Supposedly, there is a strange, dilapidated house that appears on different streets every night around the world. However, it never appears during the day. It is said that when a person enters the home, they cause it to grow, each individual becoming their own room which may come to possess pictures of their loved ones, objects that were dear to them, favorite color schemes, etc. However, since no one has supposedly ever returned from the house, there is no way of knowing if the rumors are true. Still, it has served as a cautionary tale for children and teenagers alike to avoid entering strange houses in the post-noctum age, for they may become just another room in the ever-growing House on a Thousand Corners.

Strange structures made from bones and enlarged skulls were discovered after the Great Darkness of 1999. However, while the outsides of the building were bizarre, their interiors were equally so. There could be hundreds of bottles full of human fluids - blood, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid - all on display as if they were served in the same fashion as fine wines or liquors. For this reason, the obscuruum came to be known as "Corpse Taverns." Of course, like most obscuruum, the purpose of these "establishments" are unknown, although the implications are grisly.
