45 minutes of mending, and these socks are functional again! I'm pretty proud of how closely I matched my original knitting. :D Not perfect, but pretty good.

Where are socks, there is mend. Two of my handknitted beauties got holes, one at the shaft, the second on the sole. For the one with the pattern i chose a weaving technique with a corresponding colour (all hail to the bag with the leftovers), the second (vanilla) one got a hole on the leg. I chose a contrasting colour and Scottish darning for embellishment.

Hey hey fellow folks, I’m sitting here with a friend and we’re trying to figure out what the three hook tools on the right have to do with the mending loom on the left. We’ve looked at a multitude of videos and reviews of Speedweve Looms and hilariously no one seems to know what they’re for - anyone here know?

I found the rest of my jig today, while I was looking for the right place to keep my newly acquired darning needles.

On the one hand, hurrah! On the other, oh crap, now I have no excuse not to start mending all those socks!

I'm going through _Mend It!_ and taking notes about the of for my own use. Maybe some of this will be useful to you too.

Below are the different types of for sweaters, socks, and the like that the author presents. I have summarized them and arranged them in order of the complexity presented by the damaged garment.

As a general rule, happens on the wrong side.

1/10

My daily driver pants started wearing through at the knee so I made my first attempt at darning. I was going for an organic shape, which was fairly successful, but ibwanted organic lines running though and that didn't come together as I had hoped.

I'll definitely use color a bit differently in the future and I think I need a new technique for those flowing lines, but I think it turned out okay!

In einen guten, stabilen Stopfpilz zu investieren, spart auf lange Sicht ganz schön viel Geld.

I recently learned about ,, and . What a wonderfully creative way to add color and character to well loved clothing. Now I have some great ideas for my favorite wool army blanket, whose multitude of small holes -- and a few large ones -- has made me nervous to use it. (Not too nervous.) So, what color to chose for an army olive-green blanket?

On The Mend ... if you have something that needs i’ll do it in for something that makes me happy or a skill swap. Post it to me or hand delivery. I’m here for at least the next two weeks.

Been darning my winter wool socks in the evenings and it’s not unpleasant as a task, but it is much more time consuming than I expected — my rate so far is approx one pair each night

A little seed stitch darn for an old, thinning wool sock. I find darning to be a great activity for meetings where I need to be focused, but not typing.

Also, my fave tool for darning socks is a mason jar. It acts as a darning egg but you can hold it up to the light to see what parts are thin and need reinforcement!

@Monedula once you've woven your whole way across, try to finish on the same corner as you did with the original row of threads. On a jumper, just pull all your threads onto the reverse side and tie off one thread of each colour in a knot at the corners. You can sew the ends in if you like but I don't usually bother. If you're doing a two sided repair then you will need to weave the ends in nicely and trim the excess off. I hope that makes at least a little bit of sense!

@Monedula starting from the same corner. Work up & down as opposed to side to side. Weave under/over the existing threads, catch a little bit of stable fabric and then go back the other way. Make sure to do the opposite to the previous row so if you finished on "under" start with an "over".
Top tip, pass the needle backwards (eye first) to avoid splitting threads as you weave.
