I found time to image one more #DarwinWasp (#Ichneumonidae) from the #Malaise trap back in May. This is another winter species here in Canberra. The genus is #Megaceria (#Ctenopelmatinae) and Gauld found Megaceria pagana to be a common mid-winter species in Canberra so it could well be that.

Today's #DarwinWasp (#Ichneumonidae) from the #Malaise trap in Aranda, ACT in June 2022. This one is a male #Netelia (#Tryphoninae).

Another #DarwinWasp from my #Canberra #Malaise trap: a female #Myrmeleonostenus, likely undescribed, from 10-17 Dec 2021
Preparing #Hymenoptera specimens feels like a decadent luxury. I always break legs and rub off scales when I try to pin #microlepidoptera. Gluing insects to card is SO much easier. I made a real mess with too much glue on this one, but cleaning it and redoing it was simple.
Confession: I now glue #wasps that normal hymenopterists would pin.

Keyed out another #DarwinWasp (#Ichneumonidae, first image) as the fourth obvious species from the genus #Anacis so far found in my garden in #Canberra, #Australia. None of these species is named. Images here of all four females (males are different and will need DNA to match up).
Gauld 1984, The Incheumonidae of Australia (the last major work on the fauna here) lists the one named species of Anacis and adds "I have seen 55 undescribed species."

Managed to key out a female #DarwinWasp (#Ichneumonidae) caught in the #Malaise trap in #Canberra ACT in mid-October. The genus is Gotra (#Cryptinae) but getting further will be difficult.
