I've been long using #Dashlane as my #password manager, though gave #Bitwarden a try recently, but came back to Dashlane. After an upgrade to Ventura, and with Safari 16.4, Dashlane's autofill has been unreliable. Fixing it probably would be easy, except that Dashlane's documentation has an awful pattern of talking about "current", "new", "alternative" and similar configuration options, and they keep releasing new "preview" apps. I have NO idea what is up to date, because nothing is specific.

Que sont les passkeys ?
Le paysage de la sécurité informatique est à l’aube d’une grande révolution : les mots de passe disparaîtront.

After the #lasspass security breach, I moved my password manager to #dashlane. As part of their premium package ($39) you also get a premium VPN account from #hotspotshield worth $96. Looks like a bargain!
#lasspass #dashlane #hotspotshield
#Dashlane added support for TOTP ("Authenticator-style") 2SV, directly into the password manager.
So now it can store your TOTP secret keys and generate one time passwords.
On the one hand, doing this means they are not a second factor anymore, as the password and secret key would be stored in the same location (if someone gets into Dashlane they have both).
However, by using their autofill to enter them OTPs, phising is harder, since it offloads domain recognition to Dashlane instead of you.
We were piloting #LastPass for the past year. We only had about 30 users on it. Our goal was to pilot it for 150 users but other priorities caused us to miss that goal. I’m glad we missed that goal lol.
After the LastPass news late last year we decided to move on. It was a bit difficult to cancel. I got the runaround for about a month. Finally LastPass processed the cancellation.
We have been demo’ing #1Password for about a week. So far I like the product and there are some functions I like better in 1Password.
We reached out to #BitWarden but they haven’t been responsive. We will see a demo of #Dashlane soon.
Any others worth looking at? My goal is to have our ~365 users using a password manager. I’m looking for ease of use for a general user. Solution must work within a VDI environment. 1Password says it will work in VDI but that it isn’t supported.

Finally defending myself from the #lastpass breach. Resetting all my passwords, one by one.
I made it to sites starting with H.
So I guess two more days to do them all.
What a ballache.
Where should I move to when it's done? People like #dashlane I hear, but is it intrinsically more secure?
Vergleich #1Password und #Dashlane im #iOS AppStore bezüglich Bewertung durch die User und App Chart Platz. Verwirrend, irgendwie. Weiss @jcfrick mehr? 1Password ist demnach nicht mehr zu empfehlen. #Passwortmanager

This is an interesting move by #dashlane. More transparency is definitely better. Strange choice to use a #CreativeCommons license though.
And they've apparently left out "key elements" of the code. But really, how hard can it be to fill those in? It's a password manager, not a fusion reactor...

#Dashlane has pushed its mobile source code to GitHub
This is a step in the right direction. It increases transparency and trust, which gives the recent news of the #LastPass breach and the popularity of #Bitwarden, is crucial.
However, the browser extension, desktop, and server source code have not been released (yet).

Well, well. #Dashlane makes their #password management app code public using a curious license choice CC-By-NC. Interested to see some expert analysis. I have been trying out #Bitwarden for a few weeks, and between the two, I think I like Dashlane's behavior better. At least on a Mac, Bitwarden feels foreign.
