@laptopretrospective @dekkzz76 @morrick In my experience that reliance on #CloudSoftware is myopic because it presupposes high-bandwidth #Networking availability wherever you're using it.

/Large/ swathes of #Canada are complete dead zones as far as that's concerned. And mobile data is no alternative when we get worse & more expensive #DataCaps than we did in 2005 for home internet.

I'm also not particularly fond of #wireless for everything, interference & #security issues are annoying.

Just got an email from #Starlink stating that they are going to be raising my monthly charge from $110 to $120 due to my being in a "limited capacity" area. So from the beginning my price has gone up $30 in two years.

They are going to start losing customers at this rate.

@thehomespundays @shoq That'd be one major concern. You can forget doing that in #Canada and most of #USA.

The #ISP #monopoly & #oligopoly bullshit means that such nonsense as #datacaps are still a thing.

Not to mention that thanks to those same #AntiCompetitive business practices, the #infrastructure is undermaintained and largely obsolete, so even without datacaps it wouldn't work well.
