Why do we visualise data? Should the data drive the visualisation? What does dataviz have in common with psychology?

These and more questions are asked (but not necessarily answered!) in Neil Richard’s book Questions in Dataviz. It is a fantastic read for anyone wondering if breaking all those so-called dataviz “best practices” is a good idea or not!
