Reading news and staying up to date with the topics of the world is part of my breakfast routine. Digiday had an interesting article on whether or not open-source Large Language Models belong in the newsroom.
The case against them: Not a rally against LLMs, but the fact that OpenAI has a head start in capabilities and access to the AP's data.
The points in favor are the customization and data ownership aspect of controlling your LLM.

It's going to be tough to stay off Reddit, moreso than the birdsite, but the hypocrisy of those who run the platform is too much to bear.

"That 'corpus of data' is the content posted by millions of Reddit users over the decades."

Whenever we start talking or explaining we focus on and . It is critical criteria, but it is not a game changer. You could find a lot of systems that offer it to some extent. For me, the essence of the self-sovereign system - is the untakable right to make a statement on behalf of yourself. Every member has equal possibilities and rights. You could simultaneously be an asset owner, issuer authority, or verification party. it is a gamechanger

Degoogling Your Analytics With Umami and Forge
taking control of your own data is part of keeping the web open and free. Without holding and controlling your own data, you are allowing others to use it too - for their purposes.

The merit in is transparency, , , and .

These new innovations could enable users to actively protect themselves from digital oligarchs.

My pragmatism comes from the fact that our current systems build around fiat aren't really that much more "real" or stable or trustworthy – they are just backed by our tax dollars if they fail.

Here's your regular reminder that these companies collect our data and sell it with impunity. We deserve to have ownership over our own data.

@missiggeek @CastlebridgeChief The only consistency with "data mesh" is that inevitably, bullshit around comes up, and that's a tell-tale sign of someone who shouldn't be taken seriously.

Here’s a sensible thing to do whether or not you are leaving Twitter.

1. Download your Twitter archive.
2. Convert it into a plaintext format
3. Back it up; on cloud and on a local drive

(Worth doing for email, blog, photos etc too)
